Arguably the most highly-touted prospect to pass through Last Chance U, Malik Henry appears to be settling in at the University of Nevada. He committed to the Wolfpack in January of this year and appeared in the 2019 Silver & Blue Spring Game — one of five quarterbacks to take snaps — but he did impress in his opportunity. Henry completed 16-of-28 pass attempts for 211 yards and a touchdown.

Henry spent the 2018 season with the Indy C.C. Pirates, but appeared in only two games. You’ll have to wait for INDY: Part 2 to hit Netflix to see how it all played out, but it wasn’t anything close to his performance from the third installment of the docu-series.

INDY: Part 1 seemed to be driven by controversy, something that didn’t particularly help Henry’s development or his appearance to schools searching for a quarterback. The controversy trend continued when head coach Jason Brown resigned following the 2018 season after inappropriate texts surfaced between he and a recruit.

For both Henry and Last Chance U, though, another year at Indy C.C. seemed like a recipe for disaster. Some things simply run their course. Luckily, Henry is preparing for the next step in his journey with the Wolfpack. What will Last Chance U’s fate be for a potential fifth season?

Nevada opens the 2019 season with non-conference games against Purdue and Oregon. The Purdue game is on Friday, August 30, providing Henry a nice stage to set the season, assuming he wins the starting job. Their second game against Oregon could give Henry another early-season chance to prove he’s still the four-star quarterback from Long Beach Poly High School that was highly sought after.
