Ole Miss football will look to rebound from a tough 2018 campaign, in search of their first bowl game since 2015. Here’s why the Rebels should be optimistic.

The 2018 season was one of missed opportunities for Ole Miss. The Rebels, in a way, wasted generational offensive talent by having inexplicable redzone woes and a defense that never could bail the offense out for its shortcomings.

Even without AJ Brown and DK Metcalf in the receiver rotation, the Rebel offense looks poised to be more potent and balanced in 2019. The real question will be just how much the defense improves.

The 2019 season gives Ole Miss a chance to start anew, free from any NCAA investigation or sanctions. Finally all the questions can just be about football and not how the NCAA has affected the team in this way or that. This team finally has something more than just pride to play for.

That alone should have the Rebels ready to go when they face a conference contender in the Memphis Tigers to open the season. The pieces are there for this team to do well in 2019.

These are just five of those reasons as to why people should be optimistic about Ole Miss for the 2019 season.
