Alabama football has to rebuild every season. This year is no different. What positions will the Crimson Tide prioritize in the class of 2020?
It’s the same old story that Alabama fans have read every single offseason. Alabama doesn’t rebuild, they reload. Nick Saban, the greatest recruiter of this generation, has upped his game in recent years. However, the problem with this is that he continues to have more and more talent to replace every season.
Ideally, you would be able to recruit the best talent at every position in every single recruiting class. However, there just aren’t enough scholarships to pass around. Nick Saban has to prioritize certain positions, and this year it will be more important than ever.
Alabama always has holes to fill, but they are currently carrying one of the best draft classes of the Saban era on their team. They will have a quarterback, at least two wide receivers, both tackles, stars in the secondary, and killers in the front seven all eligible to declare, and they are currently looking to be some of the top players of their position.
It’s a long ways away from all of these players declaring for the Draft, so there is some guesswork as to what positions they will need to fill. However, there will be some clear positions that must be filled.
I’m not going to focus on offensive and defensive line for this piece for two reasons. Firstly, Alabama recruited those positions at an elite level in 2019, and they already have enough commits in 2020. Also, those are always going to be priorities for recruiting. If a five-star lineman wants to play for Alabama, he will be recruited.
So, what are Alabama’s priorities for the 2020 recruiting class? Here are three.
