While Florida and Tennessee are making inroads in the SEC East race, the division still belongs to Georgia until further notice. Kirby Smart’s crew will be the favorite to walk out of the division with the crown once again, thanks both to returning talent as well as a slew of blue-chip players entering the program who are already prepared to take on prominent roles in 2019.

Jake Fromm is locked in as the starter at quarterback, and he also has back a dynamic tailback in D’Andre Swift. Brian Herrien offers a veteran option out of the backfield as a receiving back, but the receiving corps is rebuilding after losing Terry Godwin, Riley Ridley, and Mecole Hardman from last season’s roster.
The defense should have no trouble wreaking havoc once again, as they proved in the spring game. Young linebackers offer plenty of promise for this squad, with Nakobe Dean and Azeez Ojulari both looking like strong prospects to contribute as freshmen.
A September 21 home date against fellow College Football Playoff hopeful Notre Dame looms large on the schedule in Week 4. If they make it out of the opening month undefeated, the biggest tests remaining will be road trips to Tennessee and Auburn and the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party against Florida.
