When Texas landed five-star athlete Jordan Whittington from Cuero, Texas, the Longhorns knew there was a chance he could play a multitude of positions from wide receiver to running back but after spring ball, it looks like he’s best suited for the latter.

Whittington excelled at running back all spring and broke out for 62 yards on 12 carries while adding four receptions for 27 yards during the spring game. This was enough to draw attention from just about everyone and earn high praise from the coaching staff.

In fact, the Dallas News even dubbed him the Longhorns’ breakout player of the spring.

Tom Herman was pleased with the seamless transition Whittington had from receiver to running back and praised his versatility, stating that he’s going to remain in the backfield for the forseeable future after a breakout spring.

The early enrollee and former five-star prospect in one of the nation’s bright young stars and he could be the face of Texas football before too long.
