3. Jafar Armstrong

This goes along with the Irish having plenty of weapons, but Jafar Armstrong could be one of those breakout stars on a national level this fall.

Armstrong had a strong spring and showcased his dynamic playmaking skills. He finished last season with 542 total yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns last year and he’s expected to take over in the backfield with Dexter Williams gone.

It’s surprising to see Armstrong rise to the top of the depth chart so quickly after starting his career as a wide receiver. He has gone from do-it-all backup to No. 1 projected running back heading into the summer.

Notre Dame’s offense is in good hands with Ian Book under center and Armstrong running the show as a dual-threat running back.

Don’t worry much about the loss of Williams as Armstrong will be a more than adequate replacement along with Tony Jones Jr. and Jahmir Smith.
