Alabama Football: Best player to wear each jersey number in Saban era
By Dakota Cox
Alabama football has had some historic players on his team under the Nick Saban Era. Who is the best at each jersey number?
At the University of Alabama, talent flows every season. Players who would start at other schools have to wait their turn at Alabama. Due to this constant influx of talent, you have players on every team that would be generational talents at most schools.
Due to this constant rotation of generational players, you start to have intense debates about the best player from Alabama is. Would it be Julio Jones, one of the first offensive stars for Saban? Or Dont’a Hightower, one of the first linebackers that started a line of successful ‘backers after him? Or Tua Tagovailoa, the only quarterback so far that will be a consistent starter in the NFL?
You’ll see these discussions on Alabama forum pages and in barbershops around the state. The debates can be had from many perspectives: the best player overall, the best player by position, the best player by team, etc.
But here’s a twist on those lists – the best Alabama football player by jersey number under Nick Saban.
Some were easy due to one player embodying the number. An example of this would be Tua at No. 13. Some were hard because so many great players chose a number. Who’s the best No. 4 from Alabama: Eddie Jackson, Mark Barron, Jerry Jeudy, or TJ Yeldon? Some were just hard to find a consistent contributor to ever wear certain jersey numbers.
So, here we go, 100 jersey numbers.
