842. Pick Analysis. DJ Williams. 3. Freshman. player. Scouting Report. RB

When DJ Williams committed to Auburn after being an Appalachian State pledge, there wasn’t a ton of knowledge about his game. He had been an App State commit for a while and Auburn came in at the last second and scooped him up during the early signing period.

You would think there would be more excitement about a four-star running back committing to Auburn, but fans were hesitant to get their hopes up — I mean, why would he be committed to App State then? He silenced all the doubt during the spring game and made a name for himself as a breakout candidate.

Williams opened some eyes, running over defenders with his 5-11, 215-pound frame and churning out a game-high 57 rushing yards on 11 carries with the second-team offense against the first-team defense.

Williams has a physical running style and shows solid vision as well. It’s hard to believe he played mostly quarterback at the prep level, but he’s transitioning well to the running back position and should be a solid fourth option this fall with room to rise up the depth chart.
