Each season, there are teams that emerge as frontrunners. What will the 2019 college football season have in store with its share of rising contenders?

As with many college football seasons in the past, there are teams that stand in elite company as a conference favorite — and a playoff team favorite as well.

Superior recruiting creates consistent lifeblood for programs like Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma despite a constant overturn of players that depart for the NFL each year.

Unsurprisingly these teams hold the top three spots for the most College Football Playoff appearances since its inception in the 2014-15 season.

For the 2019 season, there is a possibility for overturning within the top ranks of Power Five conferences that not only threatens upheaval but also has playoff implications.
