9. Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas

Quarterbacks for top teams will always earn votes for being the cover athlete. No matter how good Sam Ehinger is, some people will simply want him on the cover because he is the quarterback of the Texas Longhorns. However, there is more to his game that will make him a qualified candidate.

People will want to use Ehlinger in NCAA Football because of his dual threat ability. The best quarterbacks in the game have a cannon for an arm and are able to scramble for first downs. Ehlinger isn’t the best at this, but he’s got enough to be fun to use in a video game.

Ehlinger also has a swagger to him that makes him likable. His ability to carry his team past Oklahoma in the regular season helped write part of his legacy at Texas. Big performances in rivalries make every game like that interesting, and Ehlinger had one of the biggest last year.

Of course, he still has time to write his legacy. In a conference without a lot of fantastic defense, Ehlinger has a chance to rack up stats this season. Heck, he might even be considered a dark horse to win the Heisman trophy. Either way, there is a lot of hope for him this season, and it is more than enough to get him into the top ten.
