It’s been a strong spring for Ohio State football and new head coach Ryan Day, but how will the 2019 season play out?
Gone is Urban Meyer but many Ohio State fans are high on new head coach Ryan Day who had time to learn under the future Hall of Famer.
The Buckeyes had an impressive 2018 season to send Meyer out on a high note but Day returns plenty of talent and had a strong first spring as head coach. He did lose Tate Martell who some expected to replace Dwayne Haskins, but landed Justin Fields from Georgia who is immediately eligible.
Now that spring is in the books and we are still months away from the start of the regular season, let’s take a look at some early game-by-game predictions.
How will the Buckeyes fare in 2019?
After a successful 2017 season under Lane Kiffin, Florida Atlantic took a step back in 2018, going just 5-7 and missing a bowl game. The Owls bring back Chris Robinson at the quarterback position after he passed for over 2,500 yards and 12 touchdowns, but his lead returning wide out had just under 500 yards.
The Owls might catch the Buckeyes at the perfect time under a new head coach in his first game, but there will be so much anticipation from Ohio State players that this one won’t be all that close.
Justin Fields will have his coming out party, passing for over 300 yards through three quarters before giving way to Chris Chugunov to finish the game. JK Dobbins will rush for over 100 and Demario McCall will follow suit as the Buckeye offense will reach 500 yards with ease on its way to a dominant win to start the Day era.
Final Score: Florida Atlantic 10, Ohio State 41 (1-0)
