Ohio State Football: Post-spring 2019 game-by-game predictions
Penn State will mark the first part of a brutal two-part stretch to end the regular season. Rutgers was just the warm-up game to get the Buckeyes ready for Penn State and then Michigan on the road, which is enough to ruin any above average team’s season.
For Ohio State, though, things are different. The Buckeyes don’t get intimidated by tough opponents and the Nittany Lions are actually losing a ton.
In fact, Penn State lost Trace McSorley, Miles Sanders, Tommy Stevens, Juwan Johnson and Amani Oruwariye from a talented roster in 2018 which gave the Buckeyes a battle in Happy Valley before losing by one. The Nittany Lions are usually a thorn in the Buckeyes’ side, but this season won’t be quite the same with too many crucial pieces departing.
Don’t get me wrong, this will be a close game, but it won’t come down to the final minute — or play — like these matchups usually do.
Sean Clifford will have a tough day under center for the Nittany Lions while the run game with Ricky Slade and Journey Brown will carry the offense. It won’t be nearly enough as JK Dobbins tops 200 yards and the Buckeye offense keeps rolling.
Final Score: Penn State 21, Ohio State 31 (10-1, 7-1)
