Alabama Crimson Tide: Win a National Championship
Nick Saban is not a fan of moral victories. When he grades his team’s season, he doesn’t use a letter scale. There are two options: pass or fail. If the team wins a National Championship Game, they pass. If not, they fail.
There’s no reason to think that Alabama can’t win a title this season. Outside of a couple of linemen and running backs, their entire offensive unit has returned. Those positions that lost talent will be replaced with skilled players who have waited their turn.
There will be questions on the defense after the team lost Isaiah Buggs, Quinnen Williams, Mack Wilson, Deionte Thompson, Christian Miller, and Savion Smith. However, there will also be multiple key players returning from injuries, including Trevon Diggs and Terrell Lewis.
There will still be holes to fill, but this Tide team will be one of the best on offense, and they will show a lot of promise on defense. If they can figure out a few positions, they will tear through the regular season on the path to the College Football Playoff for the sixth straight season.
Alabama will still have to get through the SEC East champion and a couple of teams in the Playoff, but they seemed destined to at least reach the championship game again against Clemson. If they get there, they have a good chance to overthrow the Tigers.
