Alabama football made it to the National Championship Game last season, but failed to win. Can the Crimson Tide contend for a ring in 2019?
Alabama football has set the golden standard for itself the past few seasons. If you’re not on the champion’s podium when the last whistle blows, you haven’t achieved all of your goals. They have made it to the final game of the season for the past four straight years, and they have every intention of making it five.
The Crimson Tide will carry a lot of talent from last season into this one, including most of the skill players on offense. Between Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and Devonta Smith, the passing game will be in good hands. The top two running backs from last season will no longer be on the team, but Najee Harris and Brian Robinson are prepared to take the majority of the carries this season.
For the offensive line, there will be a few changes. There will be two new faces plus a third player at a new position. It will take some time for continuity to fix itself out, but the talent is on the roster for the Tide.
Defensively, there will be plenty of players that Alabama will miss. Quinnen Williams, Mack Wilson, Deionte Thompson, and Isaiah Buggs are all key starters that the Tide will be without in 2019. Although there seems to be plenty of talent to replace those positions, the question will always be there until Alabama plays enough games for them to prove themselves as starters.
No matter how the new players do, it will be nearly impossible to replace the talent of Quinnen Williams on the defensive line.
I’m sure a lot of questions are in the air for the Crimson Tide this season. I still think they will compete for another ring in 2019. It’s no guarantee, but here are some reasons they will.
