Florida State football has high expectations, and hopes, for Willie Taggart, but will he live up to those in 2019? It all started with a strong spring.

Willie Taggart has heard all the criticisms from his first year as Florida State’s head coach. Was he in over his head? Could he lead a Power Five program? Was all of his previous success a fluke?

The questions were spiraling after a 5-7 inaugural season with the Seminoles, but there seems to be hope for the future, especially with Cam Akers, James Blackman, Tamorrian Terry and a strong core of defensive stars returning, but can they make it back to a decent bowl or will it be a 6-7 win season for the second time in three years?

Florida State had a decent spring and there were a few players that stepped up to the plate and made names for themselves, helping to bring the program out of the cellar.

Which Seminoles are trending up after this spring?

One might think the departure of Nyqwan Murray would destroy the receiving corps, but after spring ball, it’s evident the Seminoles have a plethora of playmakers.

Sure, there’s breakout star Tamorrion Terry who had a monster freshman season, but fellow sophomore Keyshawn Helton could be a name to watch after he had a solid spring.

Willie Taggart has even spoken highly of the second-year receiver, praising his work ethic at wide receiver.

Helton had just 11 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown, but his 16.0 yards per reception average was the second-best mark on the team for players with more than one reception and he seems as if he’s on the verge of breaking out in 2019.
