Akeem Dent joined Florida State with one of the best defensive back classes in the country as the Seminoles reeled in a handful of future stars, but this kid tops the list.

The four-star recruit from West Palm Beach, Fla., enrolled early and has already had an impact in the secondary. There’s talk that he’s already pushing for snaps at one of the safety spots and he looks the part, standing 5-11 and weighing in at 180 pounds.

Florida State returns Levonta Taylor and Jaiden Lars-Woodbey, but Dent had a strong spring and many believe he’s already cracked the two-deep for the Seminoles heading into the summer. If he can continue that upward trajectory, he could be an immediate impact player for Florida State this fall and make life easier for Harlon Barnett.

Dent was the highest-rated signee and Willie Taggart knows he has a budding star on his hands and he proved that this spring. He has the versatility to play cornerback or safety and there’s a good chance he’ll be a household name soon enough.
