4. Dru Brown will see significant playing playing time

Many people speak confidently that quarterback heir apparent Spencer Sanders will be handed the car keys in the fall as the starter. Considering some of the prolific passers and high-octane offenses that have graced Stillwater recently, the starting quarterback position is program-changer. Why should Dru Brown, a redshirt senior, wait silently in the wings if Sanders starts?

This prediction is deliberately vague in wording, acknowledging that Sanders is the presumptive pick for the job. Past the season opener against Oregon State, though, is anyone’s guess.

New offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson has featured some unorthodox wrinkles in high-producing offenses, including his most recent stop calling plays for Princeton. Why not throw two talented quarterbacks onto the field to confuse the defense?

Sanders might face an injury at some point in the season, or perhaps he will struggle and be replaced by Brown in relief role. Brown’s experience from starting two highly productive years at Hawaii (over 5,200 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, 15 interceptions) and his athleticism make it hard to imagine him not touching the playing field significantly next season.
