It seems like we were talking about Taye Barber as a potential breakout player at this point a year ago, but he caught 32 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn’t necessarily a breakout season for Barber, but he’s set himself up for high expectations in 2019.

The receiving corps are bringing back Jalen Reagor, the team’s top receiver a year ago, but have lost KaVontae Turpin. That opens the door for a guy like Barber to come in and compete for starting snaps and earn more targets than he did a year ago.

After the spring he had, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Everyone close to the program knew that Barber had an elite skillset and he put it on display this spring and really made a name for himself.

While he was third on the team in receiving with just over 300 yards last season, we can expect a much more extensive production rate in 2019. This kid is going to be a star for the Horned Frogs, and he’s just scratching the surface.
