The Heisman Trophy is rarely given to a wide receiver. However, there will be tons of great college football receivers in 2019. Who could win it?

The Heisman Trophy is the greatest individual achievement in college football. Every year, voters come together to decide on who the greatest player in college football is. That player gets to write his name in history as he joins an elite fraternity of the greatest college football players of all time.

However, the trophy is more of a quarterback trophy at this point. It is incredibly hard for skill players to even make it to New York as a finalist. If skill players ever do win the Heisman, they are almost always running backs.

So far, only three wide receivers have won the trophy. However, this season is absolutely filled with talent at both skill positions. At running back, players like J.K. Dobbins, Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, and Jonathan Taylor all will carry their teams.

At wide receiver, all of the great teams are loaded. Oklahoma has a great receiver to replace Marquise Brown in CeeDee Lamb. Alabama has two great receivers in Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy. Clemson will have Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins.

Some teams, like Purdue and Oklahoma State, will have one star receiver that helps carry the offense. No matter what a team’s situation is, these receivers are incredibly valuable to their teams.

So, can any of these players actually win the Heisman Trophy? Here are some candidates I think have the best shot.
