Scouting Report. Running Back. 1. Pick Analysis. Sophomore. Leddie Brown. player. 877

Plenty of questions surround the West Virginia offense, ranging from who’ll start at quarterback to what wide receiver emerges. But one particular bright spot is the return of sophomore running back Leddie Brown, who averaged almost five yards-per-carry his first year on campus.

As a true freshman, Brown tallied the third most attempts (91) and rushing yards (446) on the ‘Eers. He held up fairly well, too, playing in 11 of the team’s 12 games. Brown wasn’t featured much in the air attack, but managed seven or more carries in eight contests, including double-digit carries against Kansas, TCU and YSU.

However, the position is a stacked one in Morgantown. With Kennedy McKoy, Martell Pettaway, and Alec Sinkfield all returning too, Brown will need to improve upon his numbers from a season ago.

Brown is expected to be the workhorse in the backfield for West Virginia, though, especially after his performance at the Gold-Blue Spring Game. He racked up a team-high 11 carries and earned praise from first-year head coach Neal Brown.

“Leddie Brown, who we wanted to get a bunch of touches in the second half, we were able to accomplish that,” said Neal Brown following the spring game. “I thought Brown had a really nice day and showed what he has shown us all spring. He has been really consistent, and when I use that word consistent, I think that is one of the best ways I can describe someone on our football team, and he has been consistent.”

If Brown is to prove himself in 2019, he’ll need to be that consistent player his head coach is aching for. Expect the 6-foot, 214-pound sophomore to do just that.
