Justin Wilcox is entering his third year with Cal and the Golden Bears’ head coach has turned them into a bowl-bound team after going just 5-7 in his first season.

Chase Garbers is back for his second season as the starting quarterback after passing for 1,506 yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman. Could he hold off UCLA-transfer Devon Modster for the starting job this fall, though? That question may not even be answered by the second week of the season against Washington.

The Huskies’ secondary will have a much better showing against the Golden Bears who had a horrid offense in 2018, ranking 116th in scoring and 115th in total yards per game.

That won’t change against a tough Washington defense and Jacob Eason will have yet another solid game, passing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns as the Golden Bears’ above average defense will have a tough time slowing down an improving offense.

Washington’s win won’t be in doubt throughout the entire contest as it’ll start the Pac-12 season with a comfortable victory.

Final Score: Cal 13, Washington 35 (2-0, 1-0 Pac-12)
