The podcast returns to discuss the ongoing Bru McCoy transfer saga, the history of integration in college football, and teams that might go winless in 2019.

Over the past several weeks, I have become increasingly interested in taking my interest in lesser-heralded stories to a new level.

After taking last week off from the Saturday Blitz Podcast as I traveled to Boise for the annual North American Society for Sport History conference, and spending time hearing some great scholarship at the conference, I have a newfound appreciation for the stories we need to tell but aren’t telling around the history of integration in college football.

It has driven my thoughts over the past few Sundays as I looked at HBCU national champions and then some overlooked narratives around integration. I decided to introduce it as a topic of discussion in this week’s podcast as well. Hopefully it offers a small contribution to forward the story and the discourse around the subject.

Before we dive into that conversation, though, John and I first focus on the ongoing Bru McCoy saga. In the span of five months, the highly touted five-star wide receiver has gone from committing to USC to flipping and becoming first an early enrollee and spring sensation at Texas and now a Transfer Portal frequent flyer.

We examine the potential consequences and backlash to such a move, posit what might be the ultimate trolling landing spot for the receiver, and compare it to other situations of free movement between programs.

For the final segment, we take on some prognostication and offer up some predictions on which teams might go winless in 2019. No team suffered the indignity in 2018, and one never hopes for complete ineptitude. But if anyone is going to go without a win next year, it is probably one of these teams.

Tune in for your weekly dose of college football discourse.
