The excitement level surrounding Breece Hall heading into year one is tremendous. The true freshman running back has impressed the coaches this spring and it’s hard not to notice him as a 6-foot-1, 215-pound physical specimen who was rated a four-star out of high school.

Hall was an All-American selection out of high school and the expectations are high for him after a strong spring where he presumably placed himself on the two-deep depth chart behind junior running back Kene Nwangwu. He looks like everything people were hoping for, and more, after rushing for 2,000-plus yards in each of his final two high school seasons.

The No. 171 overall prospect and 10th-best running back showed flashes of greatness for the Cyclones and it’s hard not to be excited about his physical, yet elusive, running style.

Many have even compared him to David Montgomery who patrolled the backfield for the past few years in Ames.
