Gone are the days of Western Kentucky’s aerial dominance and its ability to light up a scoreboard with ease as the Hilltoppers are coming off a dreadful 3-9 season where they averaged just 27.8 points per game and 422 total yards which were good for ninth and 10th-best in Conference USA, respectively.
Steven Duncan is back under center as a junior, but he didn’t have the best sophomore season, passing for 1,071 yards and nine touchdowns with seven picks as a backup who earned some starting snaps. He’ll actually be backed up by Ty Storey, a former Arkansas quarterback, who could contend for the starting job.
That’ll be the most intriguing headline from this game as it’ll be somewhat of a snoozer as both teams will struggle to score in the first half before Arkansas pieces together a 10-0 run to start the second half, putting the game away.
Chad Morris will earn his first bowl big as Arkansas’ head coach and head into the final two weeks of the season with stress off his shoulders.
Final Score: Western Kentucky 17, Arkansas 30 (6-4)
