Beyond the Kyle Field return of former offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. The 2019 opener won’t have much excitement.

Texas A&M is 2-0 against Texas State all time and the odds of Jimbo Fisher’s squad having any trouble with a Sun Belt team is exactly zero. The Aggies manhandled one of the Group of 5’s best teams last season when UAB came to town. Texas State isn’t in the same stratosphere as the Blazers.

Once more, the Aggies’ opening week cupcake game will be televised on a Thursday. With more important games against more exciting teams on the docket, there might be a fan or two who was planning to catch this one on tv anyways. The first meaningful game at Kyle Field won’t come for another month when Texas A&M hosts Auburn in late September.

Notice the amount of insight necessary on the Texas A&M vs Texas State matchup? That’s about the amount of competitiveness which will transpire when these two teams take the field in August.

Record: 1-0 (0-0)
