These college football games are must-watch television, even for casual fans. Which five games need to be on everyone’s viewing list?

Non-conference play is always a mysterious time for college football.

Analysts don’t know how to properly gauge teams. The matchups can seem great on paper, but don’t play out the same way on the field. Position battles are still up for grabs. There are so many question marks that make non-conference play a mysterious time of the year as it coincides with the start of college football.

Take No. 8 Miami vs. No. 25 LSU as a prime example last season.

The Hurricanes entered the game as a heavy favorite only to be completely outmatched by LSU.  Malik Rosier appeared to be a solid starting quarterback only to fizzle away mid-season.

Despite the uncertainty non-conference football brings it is still exciting to watch.

Watching Maryland take down No. 23 Texas for a second straight season was epic (unless you are a Texas fan).

And who can forget that time Appalachian State upset No. 5 Michigan?

This season there are plenty of intriguing games that can result in big implications regarding the College Football Playoff. Let’s take a look at the top non-conference games on paper for 2019.
