Fresh off its first loss in over a month, Iowa State will head into a mid-November matchup with a Texas team that could potentially be fighting for a playoff berth. Will the Big 12 be represented in the final four in January? It’s possible, but with the way these teams beat up on each other, it’ll be tough for a team like Texas.

Still, they’ll head into Ames with major expectations, led by Sam Ehlinger who could also be in the hunt for a Heisman Trophy.

This is just one of those games where the Cyclones will be overwhelmed and struggling to respond to each score allowed. Ehlinger will finish with 350 total yards while Keaontay Ingram will rush for 100. It’ll be a forgettable performance for the Iowa State defense on its own turf, but a late surge by the offense will make things look better on the scoreboard.

Do I think Iowa State could beat Texas? Absolutely, but being down after a tough loss to Oklahoma will play a major role in this defeat as the Cyclones face one of the toughest two-week stretches in all of college football.

Final Score: Texas 38, Iowa State 28 (7-3, 4-3)
