The years of Kansas being the biggest pushover in college football may be gone as Les Miles is now in charge and things are looking up for the program — recruiting will take some time.

Lawrence is known as a basketball town, but with Miles in place, football may not be that far behind. The Jayhawks finished 3-9 last season and expect a transition year in 2019 with about the same record, especially with no clear starting quarterback. Miles recruited presumed starting quarterback, and No. 1 JUCO pro-style passer, Thomas MacVittie while he was at LSU, so the familiarity is there.

That won’t help him in this one as the Cyclones will have their way with the Jayhawks and that mediocre defense which returns its entire secondary and no starter from the front-seven besides Kyron Johnson.

It’ll be a slow start to the Miles era in Lawrence, but Iowa State isn’t an embarrassing team to lose to anymore and the Cyclones will run away with a win after a close 17-14 halftime score.

Final Score: Kansas 14, Iowa State 31 (8-3, 5-3)
