Another Big 12 road game for the Cyclones. The matchup with Texas Tech will mark the third conference road game in the first four Big 12 games on the schedule for the Cyclones but like the others, this one is winnable.

Iowa State got the better of Texas Tech last season and that’s when they had Antoine Wesley and Ja’Deion High at receiver — and Kliff Kingsbury at head coach. The quarterback position is led by sophomore Alan Bowman but junior Jett Duffey is a name to watch as a top dual-threat option.

Am I confident that Bowman can lead the Red Raiders to a bowl game? Absolutely not, but he has the potential to reach 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. He can be an above average passer, but there are just too many problems on the defensive side of the ball for former Utah State head coach Matt Wells to fix in one year.

The Cyclones will have their way with Texas Tech’s defense as this one will be a shootout in the first half, but Iowa State will buckle down in the final 30 minutes to secure a big road win.

Final Score: Iowa State 42, Texas Tech 35 (6-1, 3-1)
