Two years ago, Iowa State earned a signature win over Oklahoma with Kyle Kempt at quarterback and it put Matt Campbell’s Cyclones on the map.

Fast forward to 2019 and the Cyclones are coming off a so-so season while Oklahoma just went 12-2 with its second straight Heisman winner and made the College Football Playoff. Gone is Kyler Murray, though, which makes this a much more winnable game for the Cyclones, but they’ll have to travel to Norman for this one — not an easy task.

Oklahoma also brings in another elite-level quarterback in Alabama-transfer Jalen Hurts who led the Crimson Tide to a national title not too long ago before giving way to Tua Tagovailoa.

Hurts will give the Cyclones a tough time especially with his legs, putting up over 300 total yards and scoring three total touchdowns of his own while Kennedy Brooks rushes for 100 yards and scores a touchdown of his own.

Brock Purdy will also have himself a day, but won’t get much help from his run game as Oklahoma’s defense will show immediate improvement with Alex Grinch in place.

Final Score: Iowa State 24, Oklahoma 34 (7-2, 4-2)
