College Football’s top 5 offensive trios for 2019 season
By Dakota Cox
4. Ohio State Buckeyes
QB: Justin Fields
RB: J.K. Dobbins
WR: K.J. Hill
This is the trio of untapped potential. Justin Fields is expected to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football, but he hasn’t proven himself yet at the college level. Many believed he had the potential to be as good as Trevor Lawrence, but he didn’t get a chance to show it behind Jake Fromm at Georgia. He will get the chance at Ohio State.
There is no reason to believe that he won’t be one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten, however. With Ryan Day as his head coach, Fields will be given plenty of opportunities to prove himself at quarterback. With an offseason to prepare, he will certainly have the playbook learned, and many plays will rely on his ability to scramble and still make the play deep down the field.
Even if Fields doesn’t grow, J.K. Dobbins is one of the best running backs in the country. He will surely get more carries this year than the 230 he got as a sophomore. He has always been talked about as a top running back, and he will get every chance to prove it as a junior. He might not be the best running back in college football, but he will get the stats to be in the broad Heisman conversation.
Wide receiver is one of the more stable positions for the Buckeyes, but that doesn’t make it the best. They will be without Parris Campbell and Terry McLaurin from last year, but they still have K.J. Hill. Hill was second in receptions and yards last year, and he will be the top option this season. Due to the talent around him last year, he was a forgotten talent.
This year, he won’t be forgotten. There might be less total passes with Fields at quarterback, but Hill will get a higher percentage of targets in 2019. He will make the most of them.
