Texas A&M football is preparing for one of the more challenging seasons it’s had in a while. What are the big concerns for the upcoming season?

Texas A&M is setting up for what could possibly be the most defining seasons they have had in a very long time. Jimbo Fisher wants this team to be a contender with the best of them. Well for that to happen, you have to beat the best and that is the task upcoming this season.

With the likes of Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi State on the schedule, this team has a lot to prove and not very much time to do it in.

Let’s talk concerns about this team, shall we? There are plenty of them, but there are five that could bring this team down the path to a mediocre season.

5. Hype has been historically bad for this team

I could talk about this for a long time, but we will just settle for discussing the past say decade. How many times has Texas A&M had the players necessary to make a run for the title? How many times did this team start strong just to fall apart down the stretch? Since Johnny Manziel brought the Aggies a 10-2 season with a win over Alabama, everyone has had expectations.

There is one constant in those years: Hype. And man is there a bunch of that going around for the 2019 season.

After beating LSU in seven overtimes and nearly knocking off Clemson in Week 2, many are excited about this team. Many have the Aggies’ defense ranked near the top of the list, despite the sheer amount of players that left for the NFL Draft.

This is a team that is surrounded by that dreaded hype train.

We are more than 70 days out and there are videos and articles abound talking about how good this team can be and what they have the talent capacity to accomplish. Now, all they have to do is live up to exactly that. No pressure, right?
