As mentioned in a previous slide, the Buckeyes are replacing a depleted wide receiver unit.

There is no denying Chris Olave is one of the top receivers on this team. His play near the end of the season has likely cemented him a starting spot at the ‘Z’ position.

Olave had a two game span where he was nearly unstoppable.

Against Michigan he caught two passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns while also blocking a punt that was returned for a touchdown by Sevyn Banks. Next week in the Big Ten Championship Olave caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.

However, outside of these two games Olave was relatively quiet.

Olave comes in as the No. 1 breakout player because he will have a chance to shine for an entire season. He will most likely take on Terry McLaurin’s role, playing both wide receiver and on special teams.
