Louisville football landed one of the best quarterbacks in the 2020 class on Friday afternoon as Chubba Purdy joined the Cardinals.

Louisville is coming off a nightmarish 2-10 season and Bobby Petrino is no longer in charge. Scott Satterfield has come over from Appalachian State and he’s brought with him a winning attitude and a solid recruiting blueprint which helped him land one of the top quarterback recruits in the entire 2020 class on Friday.

Chubba Purdy is rated as a four-star prospect from Gilbert, Ariz., and the No. 215 overall player in the class and sixth-best dual-threat, according to 247Sports.

With the commitment, Louisville’s 2020 class has grown to 20 and is ranked No. 17 nationally and fifth in the ACC. That does seem like a program that’s headed in the right direction after Petrino left it in shambles, but Purdy is actually the highest-rated commit and the only four-star in the Cardinals’ 2020 class.

Satterfield has done an excellent job of building slowly in his few months with Louisville and he just landed his biggest fish yet.

In fact, Purdy is a program-changing quarterback with elite-level talent. The younger brother of Iowa State starter Brock Purdy has tremendous speed and athleticism and he has a rocket for an arm. He can hit receivers 40-50 yards down the field in stride for easy scores.

When he’s not dropping dimes, he’s running for first downs, and more. This kid has some serious wheels and there’s a reason he was made a top priority for Power Five programs such as Kansas State and Michigan State.

This is the start of something special for Satterfield in Louisville as Purdy could be that guy who helps turn the program in the right direction starting in 2020.
