College Football: Top 30 skill position players for 2019 season
By Dakota Cox
Arizona State relied heavily on the running game last year, and they will likely have to do so again in 2019. Without Manny Wilkins starting at quarterback, there is no one proven to take over. Wilkins was the only guy that managed to get a completion last year for the Sun Devils. With the question mark at quarterback, look for Benjamin to have even more success.
Last year, Benjamin rushed for 1,642 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also had a couple of touchdowns in the passing game, adding to what he gives his team. Outside of N’Keal Harry, practically every play went through Benjamin. he had 300 rushes on the year, and he was third on the team in receptions.
Many will ask what more Benjamin can give this team as a junior. I mean, the man averaged 13 carries a game last year. Can they expect much more from him?
I’m not sure what more he can give them besides a few more chunk plays in the passing game, but that isn’t the point. Benjamin was one of the most productive running backs last year. If he keeps his numbers the same, he will be one of the top skill players this year as well.
Despite his agility in the open field, he does not shy away from contact by any stretch of the imagination. he will go through guys if he has to, and he is usually successful in doing so. Expect him to be the best back in the Pac-12 this year.
