CeeDee Lamb has been the beneficiary of some amazing quarterbacks in the past two years at Oklahoma. This season, Marquise Brown will no longer be with the Sooners, so it will be Lamb’s chance to be the star receiver for the team.

Lamb has caught passes from Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray in college. Both of those players won Heisman trophies, and they both went on to be the first player chosen in their respective NFL Drafts. Now, Lamb will be catching passes from Jalen Hurts. Hurts doesn’t have the same arm talent as the other two did, but he will certainly get better under Lincoln Riley.

Lamb’s play didn’t progress a ton from freshman to sophomore year, but his usage increased. He averaged around the same number of yards a catch and a proportionate number of touchdowns, but he went from 46 to 65 catches. This year, I would not be surprised if he got somewhere closer to 80 catches.

In the Big 12, a great passing game is the key to victory. Oklahoma will be in a lot of shootouts where they have to score 50-plus points to secure a win. When this happens, Hurts will turn to Lamb to be his go-to receiver.

Hurts had an issue with focusing on his star receiver when he started at Alabama. Calvin Ridley got the vas majority of the targets. If that happens this season, Lamb will score 15-plus touchdowns.
