College Football: Top 30 skill position players for 2019 season
By Dakota Cox
Coming in at the top of the rankings is none other than Alabama‘s star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. As a freshman two seasons ago, he showed flashes of promise, but the offense limited him. He was also having to compete with Calvin Ridley for targets, and Jalen Hurts lacked the ability to go through his progressions at the time. Even with these issues, the Tide knew that the future of the offense was bright.
As a sophomore, Jeudy exploded. He ended the year with 1,315 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. This was also with one of the most talented receiving corps in college football history and a stable of running backs that had two guys get drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. With all the talent around him, Jeudy still managed to shine as the best player on the best offense in college football.
Jeudy can do it all. He works in both the slot and the outside. His quickness and agility makes him impossible to cover with just one man. He can get open deep or in the middle of the field. Even if he’s covered, his strength gives helps him win jump balls. However, the best part of his game is what he does after the catch. He’s simply impossible to take down in the open field. He stops on a dime, jukes the country’s best defenders, and outruns any speedy defensive back.
Pairing Jeudy with Tua Tagvailoa at quarterback is dangerous, and teams are going to struggle going to sleep at night wondering how to stop him.
