Miami: Tate Martell, QB

Tate Martell will have a lot to prove in 2019, as the criticism of him only continues to mount. He was labeled “soft” for leaving Ohio State with the impending arrival of Justin Fields, the perception being that he couldn’t handle competition. He then had a poor spring, which included a lot of bad throws and trips and falls going viral on Twitter.

Martell was also a highly touted quarterback recruit for a reason. Urban Meyer signed him for a reason. Martell has had a tough stretch, but there’s still a good football player underneath the drama. Miami is at its best when it has an “us against the world” mentality, and for Martell it certainly feels as though the world is against him.

Dan Enos will also be a tremendous help for Martell as offensive coordinator. Before coming to Miami, Enos was the choice of Nick Saban to run the Alabama offense. If Martell is coachable, the ceiling could be New York.
