Alabama Crimson Tide: John Hannah, Derrick Thomas, Nick Saban, Don Hutson

The Alabama Crimson Tide is one of the best teams in college football currently, making annual trips to the College Football Playoff. In their illustrious history, Alabama has over 900 wins, 17 claimed national titles and two Heisman Trophy winners.

John Hannah

The man head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant said was the best offensive lineman he ever coached, John Hannah was a two-time All-American during his time with the Crimson Tide. A multiple-sport athlete at Alabama, Hannah is also considered to be one of the best offensive linemen in NFL history thanks to his illustrious career with the New England Patriots. He is a member of both the Pro and College Football Hall of Fames.

Derrick Thomas

Playing alongside Keith McCants and Cornelius Bennett during his time at Alabama, Derrick Thomas established himself as the premier pass rusher in the history of college football. During the 1988 NCAA season, where he was an All-American and won the Butkus Award, Thomas had a record 27 sacks. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.

Nick Saban

Nick Saban left his post as head coach of the Miami Dolphins to return to the college game to coach Alabama after the 2006 NFL season. Since then, Alabama has been the class of college football, as Saban has led the Crimson Tide to five national championships. He does not seem to be slowing down any time soon.

Don Hutson

Don Hutson was a special player during his time at Alabama, becoming the most dangerous pass-catching threat in college football. Leading the Crimson Tide to the national title in 1934, Hutson was named an All-American for the second straight season. He would then go on to be named MVP of the NFL twice with the Green Bay Packers.
