Penn State football’s 2020 recruiting class has hit a bit of a rough patch in recent weeks, but the commitment of four-star athlete Enzo Jennings eases that.

James Franklin has been looking for answers on the recruiting trail after a disastrous month which has seen a handful of de-commitments and he got a big one in the pledge of four-star athlete Enzo Jennings.

It all started with Grant Toutant’s flip to Ohio State on June 9, followed by Aaryn Parks on June 12, Joshauh Moten on June 13 and Derek Wingo on June 22 — all four-stars.

Franklin has been getting a lot of criticism for the de-commitments which has led to a drop in the class’ rankings nationally, but it has risen back to No. 10 and third-best in the Big Ten after the pledge of Jennings which has followed up Jaden Dottin, Coziah Izzard, Amin Vanover, Ji’Ayir Brown, Brandon Taylor, Tyler Elsdon and Fatorma Mulbah in the past couple of weeks.

The Nittany Lions have had some big losses, but ultimately made some positive replacements — arguably no program has seen more ups and downs on the recruiting trail in the past month than Penn State.

Jennings is a major addition to the 2020 class for Penn State as he’s the No. 3 recruit from the state of Michigan and No. 100 overall in the nation, according to 247Sports. While he’s listed as an athlete, he’ll likely be a safety at the next level.

The 6-1, 185-pound athlete from Oak Park, Mich., has one of the more impressive games and was a steal for Penn State as he’s from the territory that Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State usually dominate.

While the losses of a handful of four-stars earlier this month hurts, capping off a hot streak of commitments with Jennings has to help matters.
