Texas A&M Football: Who are the best unsung heroes in Aggie history?
Sam Moeller, DB (2011-15)
With the recent rise of fan favorite Cullen Gillaspia, Sam Moeller’s contributions during his four-year stint on campus have become incredibly undervalued among most fans. The 12th man delivered a plethora of game-changing plays, and ultimately became a key member of Coach John Chavis’s defense his senior year.
His pair of blocked punts against Mississippi State and UTEP back in 2013 will always stand out, but my all-time favorite Moeller moment would have to be his strip of Kenyan Drake during the Aggies’ ferocious comeback against Alabama back in 2015. The San Antonio native had a knack for game-changing plays and none were bigger than his forced turnover against the eventual national champions.
The 12th man is one of the most celebrated traditions in all of college football. With upwards of 80,000 fans standing behind their team, ready to be called upon if needed, it represents the pride and passion that come with being a student at Texas A&M. Few have embodied that the way Moeller has.
Aggie fans, did we miss anybody? Let us know here in the comments or on Twitter @SaturdayBlitz/@chumbleycolton if somebody fell through the cracks.
