I believe the song lyric goes, “Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss.” Rod Carey is in the mold of the coaches that have made Temple a relevant viable program. He’s shaped like Al Golden, Matt Rhule and Geoff Collins. He wants to run the football, be physical upfront on both sides of the ball, and play good defense.
Carey’s transition should be a rather smooth one from DeKalb to Philadelphia.
Not only that, Carey has more resources at Temple than he did at Northern Illinois. As far as this season, Memphis lost a lot of key guys (and had trouble holding on to leads), and UCF has some questions at quarterback. Cincinnati is going to be really good with the combination of Michael Warren and Desmond Ritter.
Prediction: 9-3, 7-1 AAC
Temple is in the much tougher division, so it’s going to be difficult to win the American, but they will be right there at the top of the division battling with the Bearcats and the Golden Knights.
