Texas A&M Football: Long-snapper gives ‘bottle cap challenge’ new meaning
Between Conor McGregor, Jason Statham, and even Mariah Carey joining in on the fun, the ‘bottle cap challenge’ might have just found a winner in Texas A&M football long-snapper Connor Choate.
Though bizarre and a little unexplainable at times, the popularity of social media challenges has rapidly increased over the last few years. Whether it was the ‘Harlem Shake’, ‘Tebowing’ or the ‘Mannequin Challenge’, these trends have the swept the internet during their heyday.
Now with summer in full swing, what’s known as the ‘Bottle Cap Challenge’ has taken the place of its predecessors.
Started by a Taekwondo instructor, the challenge simply consists of kicking the lid off of a bottle of water, making the cap slide right off. After many celebrities got in the fun, the contest has taken off and the originality and showmanship displayed have been at an all-time high with contestants attempting to outwit one another.
However, few can top the job done by Texas A&M deep snapper Connor Choate.

Accompanied by Texas A&M placekicker Seth Small, the redshirt freshman out of Coppell, Texas significantly raised the bar after posting his version of the challenge Monday afternoon.
With Small holding two bottles of water, Choate fired off a snap from about 7-10 yards away and successfully removed the caps with one snap.
The post quickly generated some buzz, as the video garnered over 16,000 views in just under three hours of being posted.
With veteran snapper Austin Frey graduated, Choate is currently fighting for a shot to take over snapping duties for the Aggies this fall. If the viral video is in any way indicative of his ability, I think it’s safe to say that the Maroon and White will be in good hands when #40 takes the field this season.
