Schedule and predictions

All these predictions are made under the impression that there will be no serious injuries, suspensions, or anything affecting whether a player can play or not.

Obviously this can all change before or during the season, but let’s break it down like everything is normal for each team and at the end of the season we can see how right or wrong we were.

  • Game 1: at Wake Forest (L) — They were close to beating a Power Five school in the opening week of the season last year and will be close this year as well, but I think Wake sneaks by. Very close game.
  • Game 2: vs. Stony Brook (W) — The Aggies take care of business here.
  • Game 3: at San Diego State (W) — The Aggies get a huge win here against the Aztecs.
  • Game 4: vs. Colorado State (W) — Colorado State’s offense may put up some points, but not enough to win.
  • Game 5: at LSU (L) — LSU will be one of the best teams in the country this year, but Jordan Love will impress SEC fans.
  • Game 6: vs. Nevada (W) — Utah State wins a close one here.
  • Game 7: at Air Force (W) — If Utah State slips up against someone besides Boise in the Mountain division, I think it’s here at Air Force, but I’m picking the Aggies to pull it out.
  • Game 8: vs. BYU (L) — As much as I would like to pick the Aggies to win, BYU will be much more improved since last year when the Aggies smoked them 45-20. It’s also hard to imagine BYU losing three straight times to the Aggies.
  • Game 9: at Fresno State (W) — Aggies beat Fresno in a close game.
  • Game 10: vs. Wyoming (W) — I think Wyoming will be good this year and they have an exciting young quarterback, but Love will elevate the Aggies to a win.
  • Game 11: vs. Boise State (L) — Boise will be breaking in a new quarterback in 2019, but by this time in the season, Boise will be clicking on all cylinders. Close game.
  • Game 12: at New Mexico (W) — Utah State will take care of business here.

The Aggies will be good in 2019, but play an extremely tough schedule as they open up with Wake Forest, who is always better than people think. They have to go to Death Valley to play LSU , play an improved BYU squad, and draw the toughest opponents from the West division.

With all that said, I think they go 8-4 in the regular season and still have another solid season. I’m extremely high on Love and if Boise has a slip up here or there, the Aggies could still make it to the Mountain West Championship Game.
