Big things were expected out of Bobby Bruce in Season 4 of Last Chance U, but the star safety/linebacker was cut. Where is he now?
When Season 4 hit Netflix early on Friday morning, Last Chance U fans tuned in to see who the next underdog who everyone rooted for would be.
It quickly became obvious that Bobby Bruce, a sophomore linebacker-turned-safety would be that guy after a rough 2017 which landed him in jail. He got a second chance and came back to Independence for another season because Jason Brown said he “loves him to death” and didn’t want to see him go down a dark road.
Bruce transitioned to safety because of his size even though he hit hard like a linebacker but didn’t play anything but special teams in the first game of Independence C.C.’s 2018 season.
The second-year star of the Netflix show was visibly upset on the sidelines as he watched teammates make play after play and he made one big tackle on kickoff which got the coaches’ attention.
Still, in the second episode, Bruce was stuck on the sideline during practice, watching as he was in a backup role — something he was clearly unhappy with.
Things took a turn for the worst as he was caught on residence hall cameras entering a room that wasn’t his with two teammates and leaving with a grocery bag filled with something he later said was food but Brown wasn’t ready to give him yet another chance.
Bobby was cut from the team in an emotional episode and said his goodbye to teammates, namely Kailon Davis who he developed a strong bond with, and English teacher LaTonya Pinkard who had been in his corner since he arrived on campus.
With a baby on the way, he was left without many options and a bus ride home to Florida. So where is the Season 3-4 star now?
Well, he’s still playing football, but this time it’s of the arena variety for the Manatee Neptunes.

Obviously this isn’t the path he was expecting, but he could get himself on the right track and earn some recognition from other leagues.
It was sad to see Bobby go, but it’s good to see he’s still playing football.
