Kellen Mond ready to prove he’s the best

There is a trend across the conference of quarterbacks who showed promise in 2018, and are ready to break out in 2019. Kellen Mond is a prime example of this.

Mond believes he’s the best passer in the conference. While this may be a bit overconfident, it isn’t necessarily far from the truth.

He had great games, like against Clemson, where he threw for 430 yards and three touchdowns. Against Ole Miss, he completed 68 percent of his passes, and again threw for three touchdowns. When Mond has been good, he’s been really good.

There are inconsistencies, however. Against Alabama, he completed only 49 percent of his attempts and threw two interceptions. Against Auburn, he was pedestrian as the Aggies blew a fourth quarter lead and let the Tigers come back.

There is a high ceiling for Mond. If he can more consistently play close to that ceiling, perhaps he isn’t so far from the truth.
