Star receiver Markiese King had an up-and-down season in Season 4 of Last Chance U, but he was one of the top players. Where is he today?

From the first episode, it was evident Markiese King was going to have a major impact on the team and become a Last Chance U fan favorite.

The way King presented himself really drew viewers and his teammates seemed to love how blunt he was and that’s probably because he was around in 2017 with Independence C.C. He has all the talent in the world at wide receiver and that was quite evident as well.

King actually reminded me a little of Marquise Brown of Oklahoma who was one of the best receivers in the country thanks to his quickness and deep-threat ability. King’s explosiveness made him a star early on, but then a concussion as well as distancing himself from Jason Brown and the program led to some forgettable moments.

Despite the up-and-down season, King was drawing interest from major Division 1 programs — Alabama was even mentioned as a program that inquired about him.

Warning: Spoiler ahead.

So where is the talented receiver today? According to his Twitter from National Signing Day back in February, he joined Lamar’s football program.

This isn’t where anyone expected him to go after he tore it up for Independence during the regular season even with shaky quarterback play, but things did not go his way off the field all the time.

If King continues to work toward the FBS level, he could be a force and a potential star receiver for one lucky team. But for now, he’s still fighting his way up the ranks.

UPDATE: King withdrew from ICC in the spring after his mother passed away, making him ineligible for Division 1 football (which includes Lamar University in the FCS).
