Will Butch Davis and FIU football take the next step and win Conference USA in 2019? After a nine-win season, anything seems possible.

The Florida International Panthers won nine games and played in one of the more entertaining bowls of last postseason in 2018, beating Toledo 35-32 in the Bahamas Bowl.

The Panthers were one bad loss (vs. Florida Atlantic 49-14) from being C-USA East champs and playing for the conference title against UAB.

This is Butch Davis’ third year at the “other” University in Miami and so far, so good. He’s won eight and nine games his first two seasons, respectively, and has two bowl appearances going 1-1.

What’s next for Davis? Does he want another shot at the Power Five? What’s next for the Golden Panthers? Can they put it all together this year and win Conference USA?

Here’s a preview of FIU’s offense, defense, and a prediction on how the Panthers will fare in 2019.
