Join us on a cathartic, hatred-filled and Bedlam-inspired odyssey that describes Oklahoma State football’s five most hated Sooners since 2000.

For any Oklahoma State fan, it’s a daunting task to name the five most hated Oklahoma players or coaches since 2000. And, thanks to the limitation by sport, shot-putting Kevin Bookout and hair-gel extraordinaire Eduardo Najera will have their own list at a different time. How can one possibly narrow the list down from the many hundreds of odious, crimson-clad villains to just five?

Let’s be clear: OSU fans are the little brothers in the state of Oklahoma, and it bothers us. The Pokes have beaten OU just twice since 2003. Bob Stoops made us look silly in many Bedlam contests while on his way to winning approximately 300 Big 12 championships. Of course, the 16-13 and 38-28 triumphs are etched in every OSU fan’s mind, but those were now 17 and 18 years ago (gulp).

Those wins ended a glorious stretch of Cowboy football in which OSU beat OU five times in eight years, which also coincided with the Howard Schnellenberger/John Blake vs. Bob Simmons/Les Miles duels. Good times, but, as stated earlier, in those years I wore a school uniform, my shoe size changed every three months, and the Pokes played between the Rust-Oleum grandstands of Lewis Field.

Does anybody else fondly remember ‘Crazy George,’ the maniacal old guy in jean cut-off shorts who pounded a drum and mouth-foamed like he might’ve had rabies? What a rockin’ Family FunZone.

But enough wistful reminiscing. Oklahoma now owns the overall series against OSU by a margin of 88 wins, 18 losses and seven ties. And even though the Cowboys won 10 games a year from 2015-17, three seasons in a row, they still managed to lose spectacularly to the Sooners each time.

Choosing this quintet is one of those scenarios where there are many correct answers. So, plug your nose, hold your breath, and read on to find out more about the five most hated Sooner standouts of the last two decades.
