3. Dusty Dvoracek

The main reasons that Dusty Dvoracek lands on this list are that he has odd alliteration with his first and last name, and that he’s got this menacing, big guy, macho-man style replete with the long hair and loud arm tattoos.

Dvoracek was an All-Big 12 performer as defensive tackle in 2003 and 2005 with the Sooners. His “bad boy” image was tarnished (or bolstered?) by reports of violent off-the-field behavior, including the altercation in which he reportedly left a former high school teammate in intensive care, resulting in his dismissal from the team after being named as captain.

More from Oklahoma Sooners

Sure, media outlets probably picked up on that story more than they did the anger management counseling or the Academic All-Big 12 status, but notoriety like that tends to stick to you sometimes.

Since his playing career at OU and after a few seasons with the NFL’s Chicago Bears, Dvoracek has since cleaned up his act. He no longer sports long hair, and he has a wife and three children. He has set out as a sports broadcaster, working as an ESPN college football analyst while hosting a show with the Sports Animal out of Oklahoma City. His original foray into sportscasting was a talk show with former OU teammate Teddy Lehman.

So, in the end, maybe that’s truly why ol’ Dusty ended up here: he’s a classic OU villain who has successfully made a career for himself after hanging up the shoulder pads.
